I enjoy new challenges, especially if you have been told you will never pass your Maths or if your current grade is "C" but you want an "A" grade. I tutor school pupils ( mainly secondary), university students and adults.
- As Head of Maths in 2 large secondary schools I gained experience of teaching pupils of all abilities.
- As a Field Officer developing new courses I visited 30 schools in Scotland and saw many different teaching styles and was able to decide which worked best.
- As the Maths Examinations Officer at SQA I was involved in the production of school Maths exams from National 5 up to Advanced Higher and I learnt about exam syllabii and marking schemes.
- As a tutor for the last 14 years I have helped many students to achieve the award they wanted (very often "A") and used the time also to write straightforward revision materials which all pupils can understand.
Every one of my pupils gets my full attention and I continually attempt to get the best out of them by building up their skills and confidence.

I am a music teacher now teaching
- piano
- music theory.
Some of my pupils work towards a high performance in ABRSM exams (grades 1 - 8) whilst others choose to play purely for pleasure.
I welcome all standards and ages, especially adult beginners.
All my pupils come to my house for their music tuition.
